Entergy Louisiana, LLC is seeking a Student Intern to support the Project Delivery Engineering Department in planning, designing, constructing, and operating substations and transmission assets across the four-state region.

You will assist engineers with project scoping, CAD drawings, relay design support, materials procurement, and scheduling, with travel up to 25% as needed. This on-site internship requires ongoing pursuit of an ABET-accredited engineering degree and a minimum GPA of 2.8.

Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline from a four year ABET-accredited institution, sophomore or beyond.
  • Minimum GPA 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Preferred: Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering degree.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers in day-to-day activities.
  • Participate in project scoping at site visits and coordinate with design teams.
  • Perform engineering analyses to support relaying designs.
  • Develop relay design packages based on scope and site visits.
  • Identify and procure relaying project materials.
  • Create construction drawings using CAD software.

Entergy’s Project Delivery Engineering Department is responsible for planning, designing, constructing, maintaining and operating over 16,000 miles of transmission lines and over 2,700 substations across the four-state territory.

Intern Job Description

Working in a team environment to assist engineers in day to day activities including but not limited to:

  • Participate in project scoping activities for substation projects at team site visits.
  • Coordinate with design and construction organizations to develop project scope and estimate sheets.
  • Perform engineering analysis/calculations to support relaying designs
  • Develop relaying design package based on project scoping and site visits
  • Identify and procure all required relaying project materials
  • Utilizing CAD software to create construction drawings for projects
  • Preparing relay operational one-line drawings
  • Validate estimating prices and equipment units, ensuring material is properly ordered and staged for upcoming projects
  • Support project schedules and processes by using activity tracking applications such as Primavera.
  • Managing projects that are in construction
  • Completion of as-built documentation
  • Participate in weekly planning coordination calls
  • Work on special projects to assist in improving grid reliability
  • Travel may be required for the position
Minimum Requirements

Minimum Education:

Candidates must be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Discipline from a four year ABET accredited institution and at minimum classified as a sophomore or beyond.

Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 is required (on a 4.0 scale).

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
