Job summary

Riverview Elementary is seeking an hourly Special Education Paraeducator to support teachers in a Spotsylvania County classroom serving students with Autism, Developmental Delays, and other special needs. The role is part-time, hourly, and starts immediately, with a typical schedule based on student needs.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily tasks, behavior support, managing materials, and helping with assessments, in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two years working with children in an instructional, educational or related setting.
• Special requirements: training in MANDT methodology for emotional disabilities, with annual refreshers.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with organization and completion of daily work assignments.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and healthy atmosphere; help with social skills, personal hygiene, and toileting needs.
• Monitor and redirect student behavior in small groups.
• Maintain and organize instructional materials and cumulative files.
• Administer or assist with preparing for assessments.
• Use sign language or other methods to support communication as needed.
• Perform non-instructional duties including cafeteria, bus, hall, and office duties.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Two years of experience with children in instructional setting
