Job summary

Mercy University is seeking an Assistant Director of Student Financial Services to help manage daily operations, supervise counseling staff, and ensure compliant processing of student records. The role includes overseeing advising, degree audits, registration, and billing while serving diverse student populations.

The ideal candidate has managerial experience in financial aid, strong regulatory knowledge, and excellent leadership and communication skills to support campus operations.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years experience in financial aid with at least 1 year in a managerial capacity.
• Proficient in Banner, the internet, Microsoft Office Suite, and multiple Department of Education software products.
• Broad knowledge of financial aid regulations (federal and state).
• Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, written and oral communication, problem-solving, organizational, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily workflow and coordinate projects across Systems Management Operations, Business Operations, and SFS staff.
• Manage advising activities; review degree audits and communicate requirements.
• Counsel students and families on admissions eligibility, aid, SAP, enrollment, and billing.
• Update and enforce federal/state regulations; train staff on policy changes.
• Oversee degree audits, registration, payments, receipts, and refunds.
• Supervise SFS Counseling Staff; assign outreach and processing tasks.
• Support registration, graduation processes, and transcript requests.
• Hire, train, and manage staff; conduct performance appraisals.
• Participate in enrollment management activities and staff meetings.
