Lake Huron Medical Center is seeking a Student Extern to support the patient care team as a per diem extern. Under RN supervision, you will provide direct patient care according to established protocols and your current clinical level. Initially, you will work as a nursing assistant.

As part of Prime Healthcare, this externship offers exposure to a wide range of services while you complete nursing education requirements and earn hands-on experience in a hospital setting.

Formación

• Must have completed at least the first semester of a nursing program.
• Maintain good academic standing throughout the program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsabilidades

• Assist with direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Function initially as a nursing assistant and advance to appropriate skill level upon clearance.

Responsibilities

The Student Extern is an adjunct to the patient care team. The extern performs at the level that has successfully been completed and passed in the clinical section at a local college. Under the general supervision of an RN the extern provides direct patient care in accordance with the established protocols, the skills they are able to perform are expanded. All newly hired externs will first function in the capacity of a nursing assistant, regardless of their nursing program clinical level. When the student has been cleared by the Supervisor, they may be moved to their appropriate skill level.

• Successfully completed the first semester of a nursing program

• Current Basic Life Support Certification
• Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
