Job summary

AmeriCorps is seeking a Student Engagement Specialist to provide individualized coaching for college selection and applications, helping families access FAFSA and CSS Profile support, and deliver after-school math and English instruction for middle school students in Delaware.

This full-time role supports students on their educational journey, with a focus on building academic skills, confidence, and informed postsecondary decisions, commencing 09/16/2026 and ending 12/31/2026.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong written and verbal communication; tutoring and teaching abilities.
• Experience working with youth or families is a plus.

Job description

Provide individualized academic and college-access support to students and families throughout their educational journey. This includes coaching students through college selection and the college application process, connecting students and families with FAFSA and CSS Profile support sessions and other financial aid resources, and providing middle school students with after-school instruction in math and English. Through these interventions, this member will help students build the academic skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to make informed postsecondary decisions and successfully prepare for college.

Member Duties

Provide individualized coaching to students and families throughout the college selection and application process, helping students identify appropriate postsecondary options and complete application requirements. Support students and families in navigating the financial aid process by connecting them with FAFSA and CSS Profile resources and encouraging participation in financial aid support sessions. Provide academic support to middle school students through after-school math and English instruction, helping students strengthen foundational skills and build confidence in their academic abilities. Coach students in making informed decisions about college and postsecondary pathways, helping them understand their options and prepare for the transition from high school to college.
