Job summary

Lansing Community College East Lansing Extension Center is seeking current LCC students for a Student Employment pool. You will deliver friendly customer service, clerical support, and help with student services at the East Lansing campus.

You will assist faculty with classroom equipment, participate in BERT activities, monitor the building, and help maintain a welcoming learning environment for the public, students, faculty, and staff. Regular campus presence is expected with flexible schedules.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as an LCC student with Fall/Spring 6+ credits (Summer 3+ credits)
• GPA 2.0+ unless first semester or waiver
• Diploma or GED required for eligibility
• Pursuing a certificate or degree at Lansing Community College
• International students must meet minimum enrollment per USCIS requirements

• Provide friendly customer service and assist the public, students, faculty, and staff

Job Summary:

This job posting is for a pooled position and will remain open for the 2026–2027 academic year. Student positions are filled each semester on a need-to-hire basis; applications are reviewed only when positions are available.
Student employees will assist with providing excellent customer service and maintaining a welcoming learning environment for the public, students, faculty, and staff at LCC East in East Lansing. Student employees will also provide general clerical support for the extension center and associated programs, as well as assist students and prospective students with student service needs. Student employees will assist faculty with classroom equipment and class preparation. Active member of the Building Emergency Response Team (BERT) and assist with any emergency response matters at LCC East. Monitor building via Ocularis video system. Report any issues or concerns to leadership or other appropriate parties.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.

Requirements for LCC Student Employment:

The primary purpose of student employment is to provide current LCC students the opportunity to acquire job skills and experiences during semesters in which they are attending classes as follows:

• Enrolled and actively attending the following total LCC credit hours by semester
  • Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 6.0 credits minimum (taken over 16-week period)
  • Summer Semester = 3.0 credits minimum (taken over 8-week period)
• 2.00 GPA minimum (unless it’s student's first semester of enrollment at LCC and/or granted approval to waive requirement from the Student Employment Coordinator)
• High School Diploma or GED
• Actively pursuing a certificate, associates, or undergraduate degree at Lansing Community College

Note: International students (i.e., F-1 visa holders w/ valid I-20 issued by LCC) must meet the following minimum enrollment requirements each semester, in order to maintain employment eligibility per United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS):

• Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 12.0 credits min. (taken over 16-week period)
• Summer Semester = 3.0 credits min. (taken over 8-week period)
