Job summary

Massachusetts College of Art and Design’s MassArt Art Museum (MAAM) invites applications for a part-time Student Designer. You will assist in creating print and digital assets—posters, flyers, ads, programs, wall text and signage—under MAAM guidance.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, you’ll collaborate across the MAAM team, present work for feedback, and help produce in-house materials while following MAAM brand standards. Up to 10 hours/week, days negotiable.

Qualifications

• Junior level coursework in graphic and communication design is required.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Google Suite is required.
• Excellent organizational, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills are required.
• Familiarity with best practices in graphic and communication design is preferred.
• Flexibility to meet deadlines with basic supervision is required.
• Attention to detail and proofreading skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Design a broad range of design and communication projects including event posters, flyers, and digital graphics for individual events and monthly overviews.
• MAAM advertisements for a variety of outlets.
• Museum merchandise design and updates.
• Exhibition assets including wall graphics, signage, text panels, and exhibition mark and colorway (if needed).
• Interior and exterior signage design.
• Communicate across the MAAM team, especially with the Deputy Director and Executive Director.
• Present work for feedback from internal and external collaborators.
• Participate in design meetings.
• Upload working and final files to the MAAM Google Drive for archiving and use.
• Print, trim, and produce materials in-house as required.
• Adhere to MAAM brand standards and perform other duties as needed.
