Job summary

The Ohio State University is looking for a Student Design Assistant to support the OHTECH | OARnet Engineering Team. This is a hybrid position that requires on-site presence during training, with a target hiring rate of $14 per hour.

Job Title

Student Design Assistant – Department: OHTECH | OARnet Engineering Team-JM

Location

Schedule

Hybrid position. Training period requires on‑site presence; thereafter flexible during business hours 8 a.m.–6 p.m., Monday–Friday. Scheduled hours: 20 per week. First shift. Position is temporary (fixed‑term).

Paid Rate

Targeted hiring rate: $14 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain visual communication diagrams and artwork for internal and external audiences, primarily using Adobe Illustrator and established templates.
  • Translate engineering sketches into polished diagrams using Illustrator templates.
  • Develop additional visual assets as needed.
Qualifications
  • Detail‑oriented student pursuing a four‑year college degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for informational graphics and interest in technology and learning new subjects.
Assets and Materials

Include a design portfolio or at least three samples of your work.
