Job summary

Park Rapids School District is seeking a dedicated Student Council Advisor at Century Upper Elementary for grades 5/6 to foster leadership, collaboration, and student engagement within the school community. The advisor will guide students in initiatives, help develop leadership skills, and support the overall mission of the Student Council.

This is a shared position with the 7/8 grades advisor, with the stipend split between the two roles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with students, preferably in leadership or advisory roles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills; detail-oriented.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable to student and school needs.
  • Availability to work during the seasonal term and attend meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and guide Student Council members in their roles and responsibilities.
  • Facilitate regular meetings, ensuring all voices are heard and discussions are productive.
  • Assist students in planning and executing school events, fundraisers, and community service projects.
  • Collaborate with school administration to align Student Council activities with school policies and objectives.
  • Provide support and resources for student-led initiatives and projects.
  • Encourage student participation and engagement in council activities and decision-making processes.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Student Council and school staff, parents, and the community.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Student Council programs and activities.
  • Promote a positive school culture through student leadership and involvement.
