Position: Student Council Advisor - 2026-2027

Note: An interview may be necessary

Responsibilities
  • Work with all Grade 4 classrooms to explain to students the importance of a school student council and what will be expected of their commitment should they elect to apply for a seat on the council.
  • Create a student application so students in each classroom can apply to be a member of the RES Student Council to represent their class.
  • Review all applications and select 2–3 members per classroom to be on the council.
  • Set up times to meet once or twice a month (before school, lunchtime meetings, or recess meetings).
  • Plan to meet more when planning school assemblies in the course of a week.
  • Plan at least 3–4 all‑school assemblies including Veteran’s Day in November and an end‑of‑year assembly in June.
  • Other assemblies should focus on character education/second‑step ideas to teach to the school.
  • Work with students to determine school improvement and climate ideas (i.e., interviewing students for the student council newsletter at least twice in the school year, decorating for Veteran’s Day, reading to younger students, fundraising, etc.).
  • One‑time meeting for the purpose of End‑of‑Year Reflection will be scheduled.
Time Requirement

As indicated above, meetings once per month with students before, after, or during recess/prep time, plus additional meetings as needed for planning assemblies or other school‑wide events.

Stipend

$2,498 − ½ paid in December 2026, the balance in June 2027
