Job summary

Flathead Valley Community College is seeking a Residence Life Community Center Assistant for the FVCC Kalispell Campus Founders Hall. This student position supports staff and students, handling front-desk duties, referrals, and basic housing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and routes phone calls and visitors at Founders Hall.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information per FERPA and policy.
  • Serve as liaison between Residence Life and residents; refer resources on campus.
  • Admit locked-out residents to their apartments.
  • Assist with check-in/check-out of residents throughout the year.
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents in person and via outreach.
  • Communicate student concerns to the Residence Life Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with the Resident Assistant to foster an inclusive, welcoming community.
  • Help maintain a secure and safe environment for housing students.
  • Assist with mail services: receiving and distributing packages and USPS mail.
  • Schedule appointments for the Residence Life Coordinator.
  • Maintain administrative student housing records.
  • Provide information about Founders Hall events and campus resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to students currently enrolled in a minimum of six credits per academic semester

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:

Academic Calendar Year 2026/2027

WORK SCHEDULE:

Hours per week: Monday: 11am-12pm, Tuesday: 9:30am-11:30am, Wednesday: 10am-11am, Thursday: 8am-11am

DRESS CODE:

Casual with appropriate coverage

POSITION PURPOSE/ROLE:

The Residence Life Community Center Assistant provides and coordinates support services for staff and students in Founders Hall. This position reports to the Residence Life Coordinator.

POSITION DUTIES:
  • Receives and routes phone calls and visitors coming into the Founders Hall.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with Residence Life and FERPA policies.
  • Act as a liaison between Residence Life and the residents, as well as act as a referral for resources on campus and in the Flathead Community.
  • Admit locked-out residents to their apartments
  • Assist with the check-in/check- out of residents throughout the year
  • Provide excellent customer service while working with residents, both at the Community Center and in day-to-day interactions.
  • Communicate student concerns with the Residence Life Coordinator.
  • Work collaboratively with the Resident Assistant to create an inclusive and welcoming community.
  • Assist in maintaining a secure and safe environment for all housing students.
  • Helps with mail services: receiving and distribution of packages and USPS mail
  • Schedules appointments for the Residence Life Coordinator.
  • Assists with the maintenance of administrative student housing records
  • Provides accurate information regarding Founders Hall events/ programs, college-wide activities, and campus resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled FVCC Student
  • Work experience in an office setting
  • Working knowledge of current computer applications
  • Working knowledge of general office practices and procedures
  • Ability and willingness to provide quality customer service in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise sound judgment
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Capable of multi-tasking amid frequent interruption
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Lives in Founders Hall
  • Knowledge of college organizational structure, policies and procedures

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:
  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
  • Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
  • Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency)or social media.
  • Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule, effective communication/interpersonal skills, and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
