Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Student Special Services Advocate to support at-risk youth and school-aged parents with social, educational, and job training resources. You will review records, counsel clients, develop educational plans, and partner with counselors and community agencies to connect families with GED, evening courses, and training programs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited educational institution with an Associate's degree, or successful completion of two years of college-level coursework, supplemented by four years of progressively responsible experience in social or community service settings.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Review records and counsel at-risk youth and school-aged parents who dropped out to encourage return to school.
• Develop educational programs suitable to clients’ lifestyles and refer to GED, evening courses or job training.
• Coordinate with employers to adjust work hours to support continued education.
• Maintain client case files and provide follow-up services; prepare activity reports for supervisors and funding sources.
