Job summary

Regional School Unit #21 is seeking a Substitute Teacher in Kennebunk, ME. This temporary role supports the regular teacher's plan in their absence, with duties including following schedules, maintaining classroom routines, and supervising student behavior.

The position reports to the building administrator/team leader and requires a high school diploma (two years of college preferred) and experience with children. Accommodation to disability is available per ADA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; two years of college preferred.
  • Experience with children.
  • Ability to follow the regular teacher's plans in their absence.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the building principal and team leader when arriving at the school.
  • Review with the principal or leader all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
  • Maintain established routines and procedures of the school and classroom.
  • Teach the lesson outlined and described in the substitute plans.
  • Consult with the principal or leader before initiating any teaching not in the plans.
  • Oversee pupil behavior in class, between classes, and during lunch and recess.
  • Complete form reporting the day’s activities at the end of each day.
  • Follow policies, rules, and procedures of regular teachers.
  • Seek guidance when faced with dilemmas and be ready to seek help and multiple viewpoints.
  • Embrace diversity and be a role model for students and staff.
