Job summary

Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio is seeking Student Center staff for Front Desk, Lifeguard, and Climbing Wall roles. Positions are non-exempt, part-time, and require campus enrollment with SAP and a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Responsibilities include welcoming guests, assisting with events, lifeguard duties, and belaying climbers, with training provided by the College and an emphasis on customer service and safety.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as a full-time Hocking College student.
• Must meet federal requirements for SAP.
• Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
• Exhibit a positive, professional attitude, and willingness to learn.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Lifeguards: Must possess (or be willing to obtain) current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification.
• Climbing Wall Staff: Must obtain or demonstrate strong knowledge of climbing equipment safety and proper belaying techniques.
• Willingness and ability to complete all required training and professional development assigned by the supervisor, Human Resources, or the College.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist guests by providing information about events, programs, and Student Center resources.
• Assist with event setup and teardown for college events and activities.
• Maintain clean, organized, inviting environment in common areas, the multiplex, fitness areas, and auxiliary gym.
• Promote engagement and community by fostering a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
• Perform minor cleaning and basic maintenance tasks as needed.
• Help maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the disc golf course.
• Monitor swimmers, enforce pool rules, respond to emergencies, and perform rescues when necessary.
• Administer water rescues, CPR, and first aid as needed; maintain current certifications.
• Belay climbers safely and effectively; oversee rental equipment; maintain climbing area and routes.
