Job summary

Thomas College in Waterville, Maine, is seeking a SFS Counselor to manage student billing and accounts with accuracy and compliance. This role involves daily interaction with students, families and campus partners to resolve balances and establish payment plans.

You will prepare monthly bills, reconcile with the Controller's Office, and monitor outstanding balances, including those of students no longer enrolled, ensuring timely collection of funds from external partners.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Two or more years of experience in student accounts, bursar operations, billing, collections, or related financial operations strongly preferred.
• Strong technical skills with student information systems, financial databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, empathetic, and professional service to students and families.

Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of options and resources available to help students meet their financial obligations.
• Prepares and maintains accurate student bills, including monthly billing cycles.
• Collaborates with the Controller's office to ensure accurate reconciliation and reporting.
• Monitors outstanding balances and communicates regularly with students no longer enrolled; ensures timely documentation and collection of funds from external partners.
