Job summary

Muskegon Heights Public School Academy seeks a Behavior Interventionist to advocate for diverse student needs, supporting attendance, behavior, health and safety, student mobility, academic and non-academic needs. Qualifications

• 3 years minimum experience with community outreach activities/programs
• Successful clear criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Develop targeted strategies to reduce problematic behaviors and encourage productive behaviors through positive reinforcement.
• Provide leadership and support; advise and counsel teachers and students with disciplinary issues in accordance with the Academy’s student code of conduct.
• Collaborate with professionals to assess student behaviors and create a specially designed plan.
• Contact parents regarding discipline referrals (removal from class, detention, suspension).
• Track all disciplinary referrals in the database system.
• Coordinate and implement individual plans.
• Create general strategies for behavior assessment with the principal and academy administrators.
• Maintain a strong culture of academic excellence and disciplined behavior among students.
• Assist the Principal with overseeing advisory implementation and progress reporting.
• Help students develop healthy habits and connect to community services.
• Collaborate with community agencies.
