Job summary

East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, NC seeks a Behavior Modification Technician to support students’ social, behavioral, and academic growth under supervision. The position requires de-escalation skills, data tracking, and adherence to school policies. It is a full-time, 10-month assignment within CMS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required
• Two years of related college coursework required
• Bachelor's degree in Social Services preferred
• Active Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Provide one-on-one and group therapy processing sessions and assessments
• Observe, document, and maintain data on student behavior, attendance, and progress
• Establish rapport with students, staff, parents, and community agencies
• Serve as liaison between students, parents, CMS, and external programs
• Implement behavior management programs to improve social and academic skills
• Assist with day-to-day discipline and coordinate activities for parents
• Provide supervision to students assigned to alternative settings
• Offer immediate practical support to enhance social, behavioral, and academic skills
• Deliver social skills and character education and monitor behavior
• Maintain logs of student progress and behavior
• Refer students to community services when needed
• Respond to staff and student requests and de-escalate crises
• Address needs of EC students per IEPs
• Attend staff and team meetings
• Perform related work as required
