Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks a part-time Student Monitor to supervise students during District-sponsored activities, programs, and events, promoting safe and orderly behavior and supporting student safety.

Holds a high school diploma or equivalent with required background clearances; CPR/First Aid certification is required or obtainable within 30 days. Position involves 3 hours per day, 15 hours weekly, 10-month, 195-day schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required.
  • Fingerprints and successful Washington State Patrol, FBI background, and sexual misconduct clearances required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required, or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of building policies and procedures related to playground and lunchroom student behavior.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and exercise fairness in dealing with students.

Responsibilities

  • Observes and monitors student behavior during District-sponsored activities, programs, transitions, and events to promote safe behavior.
  • Intervenes as needed and documents incidents with support from the principal or designee.
  • Provides support in the school environment and assists with check in/check out.
  • Supports program staff and District departments regarding daily operational and student supervision.
