Del Mar College is seeking a Student Assistant - Peer Tutor to support the Student Success Center pool. The role involves tutoring students in targeted subjects, guiding study strategies, and helping learners become more independent.
You must be a current Del Mar College student (minimum 6 credit hours) with a 3.0 GPA and prove proficiency by earning an A or B in the courses you tutor. This is a security-sensitive, open until filled position with standard college references.
This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill Student Assistant assignments on an as‑needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. The purpose of this position is to provide a tutor that facilitates learning as a guide to assist the student to become a successful independent learner.
The purpose of tutoring is to increase and enhance mastery of concepts or applications of a specific course of study. Tutors integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize the student’s potential for academic progress.
Current Del Mar College student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours while employed.
GPA of 3.0 or better.
Proficiency in course(s) hired to tutor as demonstrated with an earned grade of “A” or “B” in selected courses.
Completion of at least 12 college credit hours.
Effective interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to relate to students with various academic levels and needs.
