This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill Student Assistant assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary: Student Assistant – Natural Sciences Laboratory Assistant includes the following disciplines:

• Biology
• Biotechnology
• Chemistry
• Geology
• Physics

The Laboratory Assistant will work directly under the tutelage of the Instructor of Record for a respective discipline. Primary responsibilities will involve hands-on activities associated with the laboratory component of these courses, including preparation of materials used for experimentation.

Minimum Qualifications

Current Del Mar College student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours while employed.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

The Laboratory Assistant must demonstrate knowledge of skills associated with the laboratory component of biotechnology experimentation, which can be evidenced by successful completion of one or more of the above-mentioned courses or analogous research skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful completion of college-level courses within the respective discipline.
