The purpose of this position is to work in the Math Learning Center. Responsibilities include assisting students in the Math Learning Center to complete assigned math lessons, tutoring students in math-related activities, data entry, answering phones, and maintaining the daily log. Other duties may be assigned. Work/schedule hours vary, however may be within any time that the Math Learning Center is open.
Completion of 60 college credit hours with at least a B average for all math courses.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong mathematical skills and logical reasoning. Ability to effectively articulate mathematical concepts. Capable of working with students from different cultural backgrounds, and various academic levels and needs.
Prior tutoring experience. Completion of Calculus II with high standing. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (S.T.E.M.) concentrated degree plan. Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably Canvas). Proficient with a variety of calculators and math software such as MyMathLab.
