Job summary

University of West Georgia is seeking a Student Assistant - Facility Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fitness equipment at the UWG Recruiting Location, ensuring safe operation for all users.

The position is part-time (10–15 hrs/wk) and temporary. Applicants must be a current UWG student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours and have First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain it within one month of hire. Strong teamwork and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled UWG student in at least 6 credit hours.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification required or obtain within one month.
• Commit to 10-15 hours per week.
• Basic knowledge of fitness equipment and maintenance.
• GPA minimum 2.5.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains fitness equipment as directed to ensure safety for users.

Job Summary

Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains all fitness equipment including spin bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, weight equipment, free weights, and other fitness equipment, as directed to ensure the safety of all equipment users.

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled part-time or full-time student at UWG in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
• American Red Cross certified First Aid/CPR/AED, or must obtain within one month of hire.
• Must commit to 10-15 hrs/wk
• Working knowledge of the use of fitness equipment and basic maintenance
• Applicants are required to have and consistently obtain at least a 2.5 GPA
• Ability to effectively function in a collaborative team environment
• Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office applications

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift items weighing up to 75lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in maintenance highly preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of hand tools used in electrical and mechanical repair; familiarity with the characteristics, terms and operation of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to learn simple repair and servicing equipment.
• Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
• Mechanical aptitude: ability to follow written and oral directions;
• General knowledge of hand tools and their common uses in equipment repair;
• Manual dexterity for handling equipment parts.
