Under the supervision of the Information Technology Supervisor II, the incumbent provides service desk support, including daily phone coverage, emails, ServiceNow service request submission and tracking for all ITD customers. Support includes applications, software, and IT equipment troubleshooting. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Windows OS, iPhones, laptops, desktops, tablets, and video conferencing is required. Assist with Secure File Transfer Protocol and asset tracking.

This position offers hybrid telework, requiring at least two days in-person weekly, increasing to four days starting July 1, 2025, per Executive Order N-22-25.

Minimum Requirements

Refer to the Class Specification for the minimum requirements for the STUDENT ASSISTANT classification.

The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, and related conditions, through various state-operated and community facilities.

Special Requirements

The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be no more than two pages, formatted with 11pt Arial, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins. It should include a centered header with the Job Control# (JC#), your name, and 'Statement of Qualifications'.

Answer the following questions in your SOQ:

  • How does your experience, education, and training prepare you for this position?
  • Describe your experience building effective working relationships in a fast-paced environment.
  • Do you have customer service experience? How much? What does customer service mean to you?
  • Describe your experience with IT ticketing systems, hardware management, and software support, including duration, environment complexity, and specific technologies supported.
