The Thumb Correctional Facility seeks a motivated individual to join its Human Resources team as a Student Assistant. You will perform the full range of support assignments while learning the methods of work within the Michigan Civil Service Commission and the Michigan Department of Corrections.
Ideal candidates are enrolled in high school, vocational or technical school, or post-secondary program and can use automated HR/payroll systems, prioritize tasks, and communicate clearly.
The Thumb Correctional Facility is looking for a motivated individual who is organized, creative, and is interested in working in a fast-paced Human Resources environment. This position will serve as a Human Resources Student Assistant performing the full range of support assignments, while learning the methods of work, serving the Michigan Civil Service Commission/Michigan Department of Corrections.
This position generally requires current enrollment in high school, vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution. Specific information on the education and experience required for different class levels is in the job specifications of the Student Assistant class.
Student Assistant positions cannot exceed 129 working hours in a calendar month and must be enrolled in at least six credit hours per term, providing proof of enrollment at the start of each term. Student Assistant appointments end the month in which the student graduates or is no longer enrolled in school. A Student Assistant position cannot exceed six years unless otherwise approved by Human Resources.
