Job summary

Illinois State University is seeking a Student Application Analyst to assist the SAIT applications team with onboarding, maintenance, and troubleshooting of university applications. The role offers hands-on experience applicable to a future IT career and requires the ability to work independently and with a team.

This student position provides up to 28 hours per week between 9:00am and 4:30pm, starting September 2026, and includes participation in the university 403(b) Plan.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of client/server/database relationships.
  • Understanding of relational databases such as MSSQL and MySQL.
  • Understanding of user roles and role-based permissions.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures to complete tasks in production applications.
  • Ability to abide by data privacy and confidentiality standards and applicable laws.
  • Familiarity with ITIL concepts, such as incidents, service requests, change requests, problem records, release and deploy, and the configuration management database (CMDB).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Applications Team with onboarding, offboarding, and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot applications and resolve issues in production.
  • Gain practical IT industry experience and demonstrate capability post-graduation.

Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to assist the Applications Team in Student Affairs IT with the support of custom and vendor applications. The duties of this position will include assisting in onboarding, offboarding, routine application maintenance, and application troubleshooting.

The skills and knowledge gained in this role are intended to be a precursor for a professional career in an IT profession, and the successful candidate will be able to use this experience as a practical demonstration of industry experience post-graduation.

Pay Rate

$16.50/hour

Preferred Qualifications
  • An understanding of the client/server/database relationship

The successful candidate has a strong technical aptitude and a good understanding of application concepts and technologies founded on either academic coursework or hands‑on experience.

This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The candidate will be a self-starter who is motivated to participate in established Student Affairs IT (SAIT) processes and procedures.

Work Hours

Up to 28 hours per week. Various hours - 9:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday only
