Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a School of Computing Student Ambassador to serve as the primary face of the School of Computing, helping connect with prospective students, families, and the UT Austin community. Ambassadors share experiences, lead tours, and help promote events and content online.

You will create authentic, student-centered social media content, participate in recruitment activities, and collaborate with communications staff to plan and refine posts while following

Qualifications

• Be a current undergraduate student majoring in a School of Computing academic program.
• Have completed at least one full academic year in their program.
• Meet the minimum GPA and academic-standing requirements established by their department.
• Demonstrate strong communication, active-listening, and public-speaking skills.
• Be able to clearly explain academic programs and student experiences.
• Be reliable, organized, professional, and comfortable interacting with individuals and groups.
• Work well with university staff and other ambassadors.
• Be willing to learn about School of Computing programs, resources, and policies.
• Be comfortable creating or participating in social media content and representing the School of Computing online.
• Be able to create basic photo or video content using a smartphone or other accessible recording device.

Responsibilities

• Lead guided tours of School of Computing buildings and facilities for prospective students, families, school groups, alumni, and special guests.
• Participate in information sessions, coffee chats, and other prospective-student programs.
• Coordinate tours and visits by managing schedules and logistics.
• Represent the School of Computing at recruitment events and campus showcases.
• Assist with event check-in, guest support, presentations, and setup.
• Contribute to the School of Computing’s social media presence and content creation.
