Job summary

Morton College seeks a Student Aide to support English Language Acquisition (ELA) and High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) programs. You will assist students and staff with services, outreach, testing, events, and general program operations.

As a current Morton College student enrolled in 6 credits Fall/Spring and 1 credit in Summer, you will contribute to student services and promote program goals while upholding the college values of compassion, equity, accountability, innovation, and excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide welcoming and professional customer service to current and prospective students.
• Answer calls, take messages, and direct students and callers to staff; assist with general questions and resources.
• Support community outreach and student recruitment efforts.
• Assist in developing and distributing promotional and marketing materials.
• Maintain the department’s social media accounts.
• Perform general administrative and word-processing tasks.
• Learn department computer systems to assist with data entry.
• Maintain and create spreadsheets, reports, and logs as needed.
• Assist with special projects, events, and student activities.

The Student aide is an important member of the Adult Educationteam, supporting students and staff across our English LanguageAcquisition (ELA) and High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) programs.The Student aide assists with student services, community outreach,recruitment, testing, events, and general program operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide welcoming and professional customer service to currentand prospective students.
• Answer telephone calls, take messages, and direct students andcallers to appropriate staff. Assist students with generalquestions and connect them with appropriate Adult Educationservices and resources.
• Support community outreach and student recruitmentefforts.
• Assist in the development and distribution of promotional andmarketing materials.
• Assist in the daily upkeep of the department’s social mediaaccounts.
• Perform general administrative and word-processing tasks.
• Learn and use department computer systems to assist with dataentry.
• Maintain and/or create spreadsheets, reports, and logs asneeded.
• Assist with special projects, research, events, and studentactivities.

Qualifications

Applicant must be a current Morton College student carrying 6credit hours in the Fall and Spring. One credit in the Summer. Goodacademic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
