Job summary

Student Administrative & Engagement Assistant

Student Honolulu, HI, US

Salary Range: $17.55 To $17.55 Hourly

Position Summary

As a UH Student Assistant, you will serve as an ambassador and representative of the University of Hawai‘i, supporting outreach efforts that connect alumni, friends, and current students to UH. This role combines administrative support with creative and engagement-focused work, providing an opportunity to contribute to student philanthropy initiatives and campus outreach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track returned mail and update address records accurately
  • Maintain organized digital and physical files
  • Complete assigned tasks independently and on time
  • Support student philanthropy initiatives and outreach efforts
  • Help coordinate events and track participation
  • Provide logistical support for student programs
  • Collaborate with student caller program and student organizations
  • Create flyers and digital content for campaigns and events
  • Draft and schedule email and social media content
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging

Call Center & Program Support (20%)

  • Support student call center operations and organization
  • Track attendance and assist with student staff engagement
  • Prepare and send mailings, acknowledgments, and outreach communications
Qualifications
  • Must be a currently enrolled UH student (full-time)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and complete tasks independently
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office; Canva or Adobe experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally
Work Schedule

Up to 19 hours per week (typically 12–18 hours; flexible around class schedule)

  • Hours and schedule buildable based on office hours Monday-Thursday 11am-6pm
  • Consistent weekly schedule preferred
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be requested
Work Expectations & Engagement Balance

This role may interact with student organizations and engagement initiatives supported by the Annual Giving team. Paid hours should be used for assigned administrative, outreach, and program support tasks. Participation in student clubs, service activities, or philanthropy initiatives beyond assigned responsibilities is considered voluntary and should not be completed during paid work hours unless explicitly directed as part of a work assignment.
