Job summary

Theuniversityunion is seeking two Student Assistant positions in Sacramento to support the California Health and Human Services Agency. This part-time, temporary role requires high school completion and offers hourly compensation.

The positions involve performing a variety of administrative tasks under supervision, with flexible hours Monday–Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM, and up to 24 hours per week during the academic year.

Qualifications

• Reading and writing English required.
• Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• 45% Screens incoming calls and routes to the appropriate staff person, greets visitors, responds to basic inquiries, schedules appointments, and processes travel arrangements when needed.
• 25% Reviews and assigns incoming correspondence and documents; updates tracking system; reviews draft correspondence for protocol conformance; makes photocopies.
• 15% Enters assignments into a database; tracks assignments from Governor’s Office, Department of Finance, and Agency departments; creates weekly status reports.
• 10% Assists Senior Staff with special projects; coordinates with department staff; may assist with conference room and virtual meeting tech (Teams/Zoom) and screen sharing.
• 5% Provides courier services for Agency staff and other support duties as required.
