As a Student Activities Specialist, you will be responsible for being a key member of the team that hosts large dynamic events to highlight and celebrate the diverse student body. In this role, you will supervise and lead a team of six student staff that are responsible for hosting both thoughtful educational events and fun and wellness focused campus wide events.
This position is full-time, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, primarily 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This position works a hybrid schedule of both remote and on-site work.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE.

You¿ll work with your team to build inclusive, dynamic, and engaging events that serve students, ensuring access and assisting students in building community and a sense of belonging
You¿ll lead efforts to grow events to have more students attend, including reaching students from marginalized and excluded backgrounds, particularly regarding race and ethnicity
Throughout your work you¿ll demonstrate cultural humility and intercultural engagement, including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations, and create an educational environment that affirms commitment to equity and diversity
You¿ll work with your team to improve the department¿s student retention and success
You¿ll assist with the development and monitoring of College Activities Board budgets; create and submit annual budget proposals and program reports to S&A budget committee; track expenditures, monitor budget balances, ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures, and advise Director on any necessary changes.
You¿ll understand and train staff in event management: scheduling, facilities, set-up, tear-down, risk assessment, volunteer coordination, ordering supplies/equipment, budgeting, paying vendors, and marketing & promotions.
You¿ll lead assessment and evidence/data analysis to continue to build events utilizing student, staff, and faculty feedback
You¿ll support efforts to develop collaborative relationships with faculty and staff to create a cohesive, campus-wide activities program

You have a Bachelor¿s degree from an accredited institution in a related field or program and one year of experience in educational, social services, or student affairs setting OR two years of equivalent event planning experience
You have demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse populations within an equity and inclusion framework
You have demonstrated experience advising, training, and supervising students
You have demonstrated experience planning and implementing multicultural events and activities
You have demonstrated ability to work cross-functionality, collaboratively, and cooperatively within a diverse community
You have demonstrated superior communication, interpersonal, multi-tasking and leadership skills
You have demonstrated strong organizational, administrative, and project management skills
You have demonstrated skilled competencies in Microsoft Office suite, social media platforms, and relevant technology
Ability to perform a range of physical motions, exerting up to 25 pounds; standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time, kneeling, squatting, and stooping; and traversing up and down stairs
