Job summary

New River Community and Technical College is seeking a knowledgeable Student Disability Services Advisor to lead coordination of disability-related accommodations and advance accessibility across the College’s programs and learning environments.

You will report to the Vice President of Student Affairs and balance evaluating accommodation requests with proactive collaboration to improve curriculum accessibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• At least three years of demonstrated experience working with students or adults with disabilities in educational or related settings.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between College locations.

Responsibilities

• Meet individually with students to assess disability-related needs and determine accommodations.
• Review disability documentation to evaluate eligibility for services.
• Develop individualized accommodation letters based on documentation and interviews.
• Respond to daily accommodation requests and follow up to evaluate effectiveness.
• Collaborate with faculty to integrate accessible practices into teaching and learning.
• Advise and support faculty and staff on implementing approved accommodations while maintaining course standards.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Special Education, Counseling, Rehabilitation Services, or a related field
