Job summary

Texas State Technical College seeks an Access & Learning Accommodations Advisor to facilitate accommodations and campus access for students with disabilities. This role supports Enrollment Management and reports to the Statewide Lead of ALA, ensuring student success through caring and compliant practices.

The Advisor educates students, coordinates with instructors and the Testing Center, and maintains accurate case notes while following FERPA, ADAAA, and related standards in a fast-paced campus

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, special education, counseling, social work or related field; 3 years experience may substitute for educational requirements for associates.
• Two years minimum in projects or programs related to human resources development, counseling, educational development, job training, economic development or participant case management.
• Knowledge of ADAA and Rehabilitation Act standards (ADAAA, §504).
• Ability to relate to individuals and groups of students with empathy and effective communication.
• Ability to work in a service environment with interruptions; strong prioritization.
• Ability to read and interpret IEPs, psycho-educational evaluations, and other docs to tailor accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities through the process of acquiring accommodations.
• Educate students on obtaining accommodations and perform intakes.
• Collect documentation, update case notes, and track information in the data management system.
• Coordinate with the ALA Consultant and Testing Center to arrange accommodations.
• Prepare and send accommodation letters to students and instructors.
• Maintain confidentiality per FERPA and related regulations.
