POSITION GOAL Provide vehicle maintenance inspection and repair to assure safety and compliance of Volusia School Board
operated vehicles
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. *Work hours and locations will change as the need arises. Perform all duties according to scheduled hours and locations as
assigned.
2. *Service, fuel, and clean district owned vehicles and equipment.
3. *Assist mechanics in the performance of daily duties.
4. *Assure the safety of all students comes first
5. *Assure the safety of employees of Volusia County Schools (VCS) using School Board vehicles.
6. *Abide by all security procedures.
7. *Repair and/ or replace tires of district owned vehicles.
8. *Perform inspections and minor repairs to vehicles as assigned.
9. *Report and damage/dangerous or hazardous situations related to Volusia County Schools (VCS) equipment and vehicles to the
supervisor.
10. *Perform service calls and necessary equipment and vehicle repairs on the road during breakdown situations when required.
11. *Maintain a clean, orderly work environment, which includes equipment and service vehicles.
12. *Maintain service trucks in a clean, orderly fashion.
13. *Report any dangerous or hazardous situations related to equipment or vehicles to supervisory staff.
14. *Perform routine and emergency repairs as assigned.
15. *Accurately record parts, labor involved, and repair description to work orders.
16. *Assist with assessment of needed equipment, repair, or servicing of vehicles.
17. *Wear provided departmental uniform.
18. *Work as part of a team by establishing and maintaining working relationships that foster efficiency, productivity, quality results,
and promotes cooperation with administrators, fellow employees, students, faculty and the public.
19. *Communicate verbally and in writing as assigned.
20. *Respond during times of disaster/ emergency.
21. *Attend and/ or conduct cross-training sessions with others in the Division that will allow for future advancement to a higher "career ladder" position within the department.
22. *Abide by, monitor and support safety rules/ standards and working practices when using tools and equipment, which includes
wearing required safety equipment and compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) requirements.
23. *Comply with environmental regulations.
24. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Shop Manager, Student Transportation Services.
