Job summary

West Star Aviation is seeking a Structures Lead to oversee advanced aircraft structures work in a hangar environment. You will supervise crew members, coordinate project flow, and ensure quality and safety while working from drawings, blueprints, and instructions.

The role requires 3–5 years in aircraft maintenance, an A&P license preferred, and strong English communication in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; A&P license preferred.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance and structures repair.

Responsibilities

  • Perform extensive structural operations (drilling, riveting, cutting) on airframes and components.
  • Maintain quality control across projects and supervise crew members.
  • Coordinate with other crews to minimize interference and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Provide input to Engineering and Quality Assurance on modifications and repairs.
  • Lead multiple projects and work independently when required.
  • Follow FAA guidelines and company safety rules; communicate in English.

What You Can Expect as a Structures Lead at DAS Aviation:

This position requires advanced knowledge of aircraft structures, fastening systems, procedures, and techniques. The technician will work closely with Lead Technicians to organize manpower and set priorities for involved projects. They must be competent at working from drawings, blueprints, and written instructions. They may be required to work independently or lead small projects. Supervision of the team and direction of project flow will be a primary function. Overall coordination of workflow for the project will also be a primary function. They will be required to work independently and lead multiple projects.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL to Many FUNCTIONS, Including:
  • Perform involved, extensive, and precise structural operations such as drilling, riveting, and cutting on airframe and associated components.
  • Maintain quality control on all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Supervise, instruct, and train assigned crew members.
  • Coordinate with other crews working on aircraft to minimize interference and ensure smooth workflow.
  • Provide input to and cooperate with Engineering and Quality Assurance in the development and documentation of modifications and repairs.
  • Address minor disciplinary issues and problem resolution.
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
What You’ll Need to Bring With You:

Your Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent, and an Airframe and Powerplant License is preferred. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience:
3–5 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance and structures repair preferred.

Your Initiative:
We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.

Your Sense of Responsibility:
Attend work every day as scheduled, to include overtime and weekend assignments.
Notify the supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day.
Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Other Particulars:

Physical Requirements:
Lift 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting.
Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
Climb ladders and stairs; work in small, restricted areas.
Stand for long periods.

Mental Requirements:
Understand and implement regulations and guidelines.
Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
Work professionally with others.

Supervision:
Work under the supervision of the assigned supervisor.
May be directed to supervise other technicians in specific jobs.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a hangar environment, subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.
Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used:
Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices.
Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.
