Job summary

West Star Aviation is seeking an Aircraft Nacelles Technician to join our Texas maintenance team. You will perform mechanical tasks, troubleshoot systems, and handle panel removal and installation in a fast-paced hangar environment.

Qualifications include AMT I–IV licenses (Airframe/Powerplant) and a high school diploma; driver’s license or passport is a plus. Benefits start at hire and include comprehensive coverage and 401(k) matching.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
  • Remove and install panels and components.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose aircraft system issues.
  • De-fuel aircraft and perform engine removals/installations.
  • Operate ground support equipment; inspect aircraft and components.
  • Assist with taxiing, performance runs, and hangar duties.
  • Adhere to FAA guidelines and maintain safety standards.

What you can expect as an Aircraft Nacelles Technician at DAS Aviation:

Whether you are replacing or repairing parts, troubleshooting electrical/mechanical/hydraulic and pneumatic systems or performing inspections on some of the most sophisticated civilian aircraft in the world, no day is the same. What is the same, is that each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:
  • Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems.
  • Removal and installation of panels and components.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving aircraft system/component issues.
  • De-fueling aircraft.
  • Engine removal/installations.
  • Operating ground support equipment.
  • Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components.
  • Aircraft movement and assistance in performance runs/taxiing.
  • Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling.
  • Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
What you’ll need to bring with you:

Your Education:
A High school diploma or equivalent. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience:

AMT I:
Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred.
0-2 years of experience in aviation maintenance, avionics, or similar.
These technicians have limited to moderate knowledge of general maintenance aspects.
Technicians require close supervision of general maintenance tasks.

AMT II:
Airframe or Powerplant license is required. Airframe license is preferred.
2-4 years of experience working in aviation maintenance.
Experience working on corporate aircraft is preferred but not essential.
These technicians have considerable knowledge of the job and general maintenance aspects.
Technicians require general supervision on routine maintenance and more detailed instruction for new or special assignments.

AMT III:
Airframe license is required; in addition, Powerplant license is highly preferred.
4-6+ years’ experience in aviation maintenance.
Experience working on corporate aircraft is highly preferred but not essential.
These technicians have full knowledge of general, detailed, and special assignments in aircraft maintenance.

AMT IV (Master):
Airframe and Powerplant license is required.
6+ years’ experience in aviation maintenance.
Must have extensive experience on corporate aircraft platforms.
Subject matter expert in all areas of the job.

Your Initiative:
We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.

Your Sense of Responsibility:
Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day.
Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer-oriented work habits.

Other particulars:

Physical Requirements:
Lifts 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
Climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas.
Standing for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements:
Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
Work with others in a professional manner.

Supervision:
Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance.
May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.
Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used:
Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
