Job summary

Mannik Smith Group in Louisville, KY is seeking a Structures EIT to work on capstone-type transportation projects and gain meaningful project exposure from day one. You will support design calculations, reports, bridge analyses, and construction documents under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.

The role offers a hybrid work schedule, competitive compensation in the $68k–$76k range, and opportunities to collaborate with roadway, geotechnical, traffic, and other engineering disciplines

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in structural or bridge engineering design.
• EIT Certification preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software (MicroStation, OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, STAAD).
• Understanding of bridge and transportation structure design principles; ability to meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Work under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer as part of a team designing and preparing structural calculations, technical reports, bridge analyses, and construction documents.
• Assist with design and development of transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and related infrastructure components.
• Prepare accurate plans, design details, specifications, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, utility providers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams throughout project development.
• Support field reviews, inspections, and constructability assessments as needed.
• Assist in preparing permit applications and agency submittal packages.
• Contribute to project scope development while supporting schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Collaborate with roadway, geotechnical, traffic, and other engineering disciplines to support project success.

Key Responsibilities

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in structural or bridge engineering design, preferably within transportation projects.
• EIT Certification preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software preferred (MicroStation, OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, STAAD, or similar tools).
• Understanding of bridge and transportation structure design principles and applicable design standards.
• Detail-oriented individual with strong technical and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, and standard industry software.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary team environments and meet project deadlines.
• Strong oral presentation and written communication skills.
