Job summary

HMB seeks a Structures EIT in Frankfort, KY to work on capstone transportation projects. You will assist in design, analyses, and construction documents under supervision, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across infrastructure components.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in structural/bridge design, EIT preferred or pursuing licensure, and familiarity with design software. Hybrid options and competitive benefits are available.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in structural or bridge engineering design.
• EIT Certification preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
• Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as MicroStation/OpenBridge Designer/LEAP Bridge/STAAD.

Responsibilities

• Design and preparation of structural calculations, technical reports, bridge analyses, and construction documents under PE supervision.
• Assist with the design and development of transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, culverts.
• Prepare accurate plans, design details, specifications, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, utilities, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support field reviews, inspections, and constructability assessments.
• Assist in permit applications and agency submittals.
• Contribute to project scope, schedules, and budgets.
• Collaborate with roadway/geotechnical/traffic engineers to support project success.

Key Responsibilities

• Working under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer as a member of a team in the design and preparation of structural calculations, technical reports, bridge analyses, and construction documents.
• Assisting with the design and development of transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and related infrastructure components.
• Preparation of accurate plans, design details, specifications, and construction documents.
• Coordination with clients, subconsultants, utility providers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams throughout project development.
• Supporting field reviews, inspections, and constructability assessments when needed.
• Assisting in the preparation of permit applications and agency submittal packages.
• Contributing to project scope development while supporting schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Working collaboratively with roadway, geotechnical, traffic, and other engineering disciplines to support project success.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in structural or bridge engineering design, preferably within transportation projects.
• EIT Certification preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software preferred (MicroStation, OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, STAAD, or similar tools).
• Understanding of bridge and transportation structure design principles and applicable design standards.
• Detail-oriented individual with strong technical and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, and standard industry software.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary team environments and meet project deadlines.
• Strong oral presentation and written communication skills.
