Job summary

HMB Professional Engineers, LLC invites a Structures EIT to join our Transportation team in Frankfort, KY. You will contribute to capstone-type projects, performing structural calculations, reports, bridge analyses, and construction documents under a Professional Engineer’s guidance.

The role emphasizes development of transportation structures like bridges and culverts, with coordination across disciplines and clients. A 2+ year background and EIT preferred position you well for this opportunity.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in structural or bridge engineering design, preferably within transportation projects.
• EIT Certification preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software such as MicroStation, OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge or STAAD.

Responsibilities

• Work under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer on the design and preparation of structural calculations, reports, bridge analyses, and construction documents.
• Assist with design and development of transportation structures including bridges and culverts.
• Prepare accurate plans, design details, specifications and construction documents.
• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, utilities, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support field reviews, inspections, and constructability assessments as needed.
• Assist in preparing permit applications and agency submittal packages.
• Contribute to project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Collaborate with roadway, geotechnical, traffic, and other disciplines to support project success.

Compensation: $68,000 - $76,000 / year

Key Responsibilities

• Working under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer as a member of a team in the design and preparation of structural calculations, technical reports, bridge analyses, and construction documents.
• Assisting with the design and development of transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and related infrastructure components.
• Preparation of accurate plans, design details, specifications, and construction documents.
• Coordination with clients, subconsultants, utility providers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams throughout project development.
• Supporting field reviews, inspections, and constructability assessments when needed.
• Assisting in the preparation of permit applications and agency submittal packages.
• Contributing to project scope development while supporting schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Working collaboratively with roadway, geotechnical, traffic, and other engineering disciplines to support project success.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in structural or bridge engineering design, preferably within transportation projects.
• EIT Certification preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software preferred (MicroStation, OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, STAAD, or similar tools).
• Understanding of bridge and transportation structure design principles and applicable design standards.
• Detail-oriented individual with strong technical and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, and standard industry software.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary team environments and meet project deadlines.
• Strong oral presentation and written communication skills.
