Job summary

Mannik Smith Group is seeking a Structures EIT in Nashville, TN, to work on capstone transportation projects under a Professional Engineer. The role offers hybrid work options with a strong emphasis on collaboration across disciplines and client coordination.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in structural or bridge engineering design, preferably within transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare structural calculations, technical reports, bridge analyses, and construction documents under the charge of a Professional Engineer.
• Assist with design and development of transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and related components.
• Prepare accurate plans, design details, specifications, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, utility providers, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support field reviews, inspections, and constructability assessments.
• Assist in preparing permit applications and agency submittal packages.
• Contribute to project scope development while supporting schedules, budgets and deliverables.
• Collaborate with roadway, geotechnical and other engineering disciplines to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

• Working under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer as a member of a team in the design and preparation of structural calculations, technical reports, bridge analyses, and construction documents.
• Assisting with the design and development of transportation structures including bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and related infrastructure components.
• Preparation of accurate plans, design details, specifications, and construction documents.
• Coordination with clients, subconsultants, utility providers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams throughout project development.
• Supporting field reviews, inspections, and constructability assessments when needed.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in structural or bridge engineering design, preferably within transportation projects.
• EIT Certification preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software preferred (MicroStation, OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, STAAD, or similar tools).
• Understanding of bridge and transportation structure design principles and applicable design standards.
• Detail-oriented individual with strong technical and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, and standard industry software.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary team environments and meet project deadlines.
• Strong oral presentation and written communication skills.
