Job summary

Scholastic is seeking a part-time Literacy Specialist to deliver literacy-based professional learning and reflective coaching across NY, NJ, CT. Role combines virtual and in-person facilitation and product training to support district partners in implementing structured literacy practices.

The ideal candidate has a Master's in education or related field, 3–5 years of coaching and literacy instruction, and strong knowledge of language development and culturally responsive teaching.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in education or reading-related field.
• 3–5 years facilitating face-to-face literacy professional learning.
• 3–5 years teaching or instructional coaching experience.
• Deep knowledge of structured literacy instruction.
• Understanding of language acquisition theories and instructional strategies.
• Proficiency in linguistically and culturally responsive teaching.
• Experience with multilingual learners or bilingual proficiency is a plus.
• Knowledge of college and career readiness standards.
• Understanding of adult learning theories.
• Flexible travel schedule.
• MS Office and PowerPoint proficiency.
• Experience with Zoom and Teams.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication.
• Strong facilitation, professionalism, and creativity.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate professional learning using adult learning methodologies for structured literacy.
• Deliver professional learning, coach teachers on literacy practices and foundational skills.
• Support classroom teachers and leaders in content knowledge and implementation.
• Provide coaching feedback to identify progress and growth opportunities.
• Maintain expertise in literacy instruction and Scholastic products.
• Maintain relationships with districts and partners.
• Collaborate with team and partners to ensure engagement.
