Job summary

Center for Student Achievement Solutions in New York City seeks Literacy Coach Consultants to provide onsite, job-embedded coaching and professional development in NYC public schools.

The role requires deep knowledge of the Science of Reading, 5+ years of K–3 teaching, and 3+ years of coaching or PD facilitation. You will visit schools, model lessons, analyze data, and support teachers with structured literacy implementation.

Qualifications

• You’ve taught grades K–3 within the last 10 years using structured literacy approaches.
• You've directly implemented at least one of the following: UFLI Foundations, Heggerty / Bridge the Gap, ISME Orton-Gillingham, PAF, Fundations, Really Great Reading.
• You've coached or led PD for teachers on early literacy best practices.
• You live in New York City and are available for onsite school visits.
• You are not currently employed by the NYC Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Deliver onsite coaching to K–3 teachers aligned to school and district literacy goals.
• Model and co-plan evidence-based lessons that align with the Science of Reading.
• Facilitate 1:1 coaching and team-level PD sessions.
• Support the implementation of core phonics and literacy intervention programs.
• Analyze data (e.g., Acadience, mCLASS) and support data-driven instruction.
• Build teacher capacity through reflective conversations and actionable feedback.
