Job Title: Structured Cabling Technician – Commercial Construction (Low Voltage)

Overview
We are seeking skilled Structured Cabling Technicians to support commercial construction projects throughout Manhattan. This role requires hands‑on experience with low‑voltage systems, including copper and fiber installations, in active construction environments. Candidates should be comfortable working to spec, meeting deadlines, and maintaining high‑quality standards on fast‑paced job sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, route, and support Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic (single-mode & multi-mode) cabling
- Perform terminations (RJ45, 110 blocks, patch panels, fiber connectors including LC/SC)
- Conduct testing and certification using Fluke testers (DSX series or similar)
- Read and interpret construction drawings, IDFs/MDF layouts, and riser diagrams
- Install infrastructure including cable trays, ladder racks, sleeves, firestopping, and J-hooks
- Perform rack and stack, equipment mounting, and basic device patching
- Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and as‑built updates
- Follow NYC job site safety requirements and coordinate with GC and other trades
Technical Requirements
- 3+ years of structured cabling experience in commercial or high‑rise construction
- Strong understanding of TIA/EIA standards, ANSI/TIA-568, and BICSI best practices
- Experience with cable certification, OTDR testing (fiber), and troubleshooting signal loss
- Ability to maintain proper bend radius, cable management, and pathway fill ratios
- Familiarity with IDF/MDF buildouts and cross‑connect environments
Certifications (Preferred but not required)
- BICSI Installer (Level 1 or 2) or Technician
- OSHA 30 (NYC preferred)
- SST Card (Site Safety Training) for NYC job sites
