Qualifications

  • 5+ years of on-the-job experience with leadership responsibilities.
  • BICSI Installer 1 & 2 certificates are a plus.

  • OSHA 10 certificate or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
  • Boom/Scissor Lift Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
  • Powder Actuated Tools Certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the technical responsibilities of a Low Voltage Cable Installer and function as a member of a technical team.
  • Overhead and underground layout of pathways and rough-in.
  • Terminate copper cable types including coaxial, multi-pair, Cat5e to Cat6a.
  • Measure, cut, bend, assemble, and install cable trays using measuring devices.
  • Assemble and install relay racks and network cabinets with components.
  • Perform fiber optic installations and terminations.
  • Install cabling following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
  • Interface with customers and coordinate change requests.
  • Set up and operate copper and fiber testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and improve structured cabling systems.

Structured Cabling Lead I / Technician III (Kaysville)

Full Time • Kaysville

3cBSI is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Structured Cabling Lead I / Technician III to join our team. 3c installs Structured Cabling, Audio/Visual, Access Control, CCTV, and Sound Masking in the Greater Salt Lake area, primarily in commercial retrofit and new build environments. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform the technical responsibilities of a Low Voltage Cable Installer and function as a member of a technical team.
  • Overhead and underground layout of pathways and rough‑in.
  • Terminate all types of copper cable, including coaxial, multi‑pair, and Cat 5e to Cat 6a.
  • Measure, cut, bend, assemble, and install cable tray using measuring devices and hand tools.
  • Assemble and install relay racks and network cabinets with all associated components.
  • Perform fiber optic cable installation and terminations of all types.
  • Conduct structured cabling installations in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
  • Experience in access controls, CCTV, intercoms, sound masking, and other low‑voltage applications is a plus.
  • Understand and explain every aspect of the structured cabling system, including pathways, spaces, horizontal cabling, backbone copper, backbone fiber optic, cross‑ and inter‑connections, and testing.
  • Act as the company liaison for interfacing with customer representatives, discussing change requests, and coordinating proposals.
  • Correctly set up and operate copper and fiber optic testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and resolve problems in structured cabling systems and technical issues.
  • Choose the correct, most efficient tool/methodology for the given task and assist teammates in doing the same.
  • Computer proficient.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of on‑the‑job experience and demonstrated leadership skills.
  • BICSI Installer 1 & 2 certificates are a plus.
  • Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent.
  • Pass random drug screening and criminal background check.
  • Willingness to travel out of town periodically.
  • OSHA 10 Certificate (or willing to provide within 30 days of hire).
  • Boom / Scissor Lift Certification (or willing to provide within 30 days of hire).
  • Powder Actuated Tools Certification / Confined Space Certification are a plus.
  • Own essential tools (drill/impact, punch tool, toner, snips, butt set, sawzall, etc.).
  • Professional communication skills with clients and other trades.
  • Strong understanding of drawing reading and taking off to/from a BOM.
  • Excellent understanding of voice and data cabling, including fiber optics terminations and installation, Cat 5 and 6.
  • Deliver high‑quality craftsmanship.
  • Respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
  • Self‑motivated, positive, professional, and contribute to project process improvements.
  • Organized, punctual, meets attendance standards, listens carefully, and follows instructions.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position requires working in all elements depending on location and time of year (heat, cold, rain, etc.). The employee must wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest – provided by 3c, and respirator when required). Work hours are 8‑10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, with overtime as required. Physical demands include crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, constant movement, routine lifting of heavy objects over 50 pounds, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
