Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Structured Cabling Logistics Laborer to assist Cabling Technicians on hyperscale data center projects. You will handle materials, install and assemble low voltage systems, and help prepare work areas and spaces for Cabling activities.

Responsibilities include cable pulling, routing, labeling, and basic terminations, as well as operating light equipment and maintaining a clean, safe workspace under supervision. A strong teamwork ethic is essential for on-site success.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret safety regulations, blueprints, and manuals.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and handle materials.
• Willing and able to follow instructions with proper training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of structured cabling systems (fiber and copper).
• Support low voltage installation tasks (cable pulling, routing, labeling, basic terminations).
• Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit with tools.
• Safely use hand and power tools under supervision.
• Lift, position and secure objects for installation support.
• Operate equipment as required (Bobcat, forklift, boom lifts).
• Prepare, stage, and supply materials and tools for trades.
• Coordinate material deliveries and maintain storage areas.
• Maintain a clean work area and tools.
• Follow safety procedures and project instructions.
• Build strong team relationships and support project flow.

Summary

Mortenson is currently seeking a Structured Cabling Logistics Laborer that will be responsible for safely assisting Cabling Technicians on hyperscale data center projects. Duties include material handling, installation, assembling and dismantling of low voltage carrier systems, preparing work areas, and cleaning of workspaces.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of structured cabling systems, including fiber optic and copper cabling
• Support low voltage installation tasks such as cable pulling, routing, labeling, and basic terminations
• Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit utilizing various hand tools
• Safely utilize hand and power tools after proper training (drills, crimpers, cutters, etc.)
• Lift, position, and fasten objects as required for installation support
• Operate the following equipment based on the requirements of the project:
• Bobcat/Skid-steer
• Forklift/Telehandler
• Boom Lifts/Aerial Lifts
• Prepare, handle, stage, and supply materials and tools to support electrical and cabling trades
• Coordinate material deliveries and maintain organized material storage areas
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, tools, and equipment
• Assist with assembling and dismantling low voltage carrier systems
• Follow all safety procedures and work under immediate supervision according to standard instructions and established procedures
• Effectively work and build relationships with team members of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Support general labor duties as needed to maintain project flow
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Relevant experience preferred
• Graduation from apprenticeship program preferred
• Current driver’s license
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, blueprints and schematic drawings, and procedure manuals; ability to work with tools, such as power and non-powered hand tools
• Willing and able to follow instructions and ask clarifying questions; ability to handle materials that can weigh up to 100 lbs; strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills
• Detail oriented; active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
