Job summary

Apache Workforce in Conroe, TX is seeking experienced Fabrication Welders to weld and fabricate carbon and stainless steel components to drawings and specs.

Ideal candidates have MIG/flux-core welding experience, blueprint reading skills, and the ability to read layouts and perform basic measurements. Night shifts are available, with safety PPE provided and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of fabrication welding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and flux-core welding on carbon steel and stainless steel components.

• Inspect welds and assemblies for quality and accuracy.
• Operate cutting torches and plasma cutters for material preparation.

Job description

Location: Conroe, TX 77301
Pay: Up to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Approximately 55 hours per week
Shifts: Day & Night Shifts Available
Night Shift Differential: Additional $2.00 per hour for qualifying night-shift hours

Position Summary

Apache Workforce is seeking experienced Fabrication Welders for manufacturing opportunities in the Conroe area. This position involves welding and fabricating carbon steel and stainless steel components according to drawings, specifications, and production requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience with MIG and flux-core welding, blueprint reading, fabrication, fit-up, and working with structural and fabricated components in a manufacturing environment.

Weld Test

Candidates may be required to successfully complete a welding test that includes:

• 3G and 4G welding positions
• MIG and flux-core welding processes
• Backing plate
• Bend testing

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and flux-core welding on carbon steel and stainless steel components.
• Read and follow blueprints, shop drawings, and work instructions.
• Fit, align, tack, and weld fabricated components according to specifications.
• Set up welding equipment and adjust settings as needed.
• Verify weld locations, dimensions, and alignment using appropriate measuring tools.
• Perform layout, fit-up, squaring, and alignment of assemblies.
• Grind, clean, and finish welded components as required.
• Inspect completed welds and assemblies for quality and accuracy.
• Repair weld defects when necessary.
• Perform tack welding and other assigned welding processes.
• Operate cutting equipment such as torches and plasma cutters for material preparation.
• Use fabrication equipment and shop tools as required.
• Operate overhead cranes or material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
• Notify quality personnel when completed assemblies are ready for inspection.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow established safety and quality procedures.
• Perform other related production duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of fabrication welding experience preferred.
• Experience with MIG and/or flux-core welding.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Experience with measuring and layout tools such as tape measures, squares, clamps, and weld gauges.
• Familiarity with metal fabrication processes and shop equipment.
• Ability to perform accurate measurements and basic calculations using fractions and decimals.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
• Ability to safely handle materials and perform hands-on fabrication work.

Fabrication Equipment

Experience with some of the following equipment is a plus:

• Press brakes
• Shears
• Ironworkers
• Band saws
• Welding equipment
• Cutting torches

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous 3G or 4G welding experience or certification.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Forklift experience or certification.
• Additional welding or fabrication training.
• This position is performed in a manufacturing and fabrication shop environment and may involve exposure to welding, fabrication equipment, noise, heat, and varying temperatures.
• The position may require:
• Standing and moving throughout the work area for extended periods.
• Bending, reaching, and performing repetitive welding and fabrication tasks.
• Handling materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
• Working around welding equipment, cutting equipment, cranes, and other industrial machinery.
• Working scheduled overtime or extended shifts based on production requirements.

Safety & PPE

Employees are expected to follow applicable workplace safety procedures and use required PPE based on assigned duties.

Typical PPE may include:

• Safety glasses
• Welding hood
• Flame-resistant work clothing as required
• Hearing protection in designated areas
• Additional PPE based on the assigned work area

Compensation

• Up to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
• Qualifying night-shift hours receive an additional $2.00 per hour shift differential.
• Final pay is based on relevant welding experience, technical skills, qualifications, and applicable certifications.
