Job summary

Western Industrial Resources Corporation seeks a Structural Welder to weld, fit, and fabricate structural steel for industrial construction and maintenance projects. You will read blueprints, interpret weld symbols, and perform SMAW/FCAW/GMAW with a focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of structural welding experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass required welding tests.
  • Experience in industrial or mining environments preferred.
  • Must pass site-specific safety training and drug screening.

  • Use welding equipment, torches, grinders, and hand tools safely.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform repairs or rework as required.
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
  • Adhere to all site safety rules and wear required PPE at all times.

Job description

The Structural Welder is responsible for welding, fitting, and fabricating structural steel components in support of industrial construction and maintenance operations. This position requires a strong understanding of welding procedures, blueprints, and safety standards in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform structural welding using SMAW, FCAW, and/or GMAW processes
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings
  • Fit, fabricate, and weld structural steel, plate, and miscellaneous metals
  • Verify materials, dimensions, and weld quality before and after welding
  • Use welding equipment, torches, grinders, and hand tools safely
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards
  • Perform repairs or rework as required
  • Maintain equipment and work areas in a safe and organized condition
  • Adhere to all site safety rules and regulations and wear required PPE at all times
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of structural welding experience preferred
  • Ability to pass required welding tests
  • Experience in industrial or mining environments preferred
  • Must pass site-specific safety training and drug screening
Preferred Certifications
  • NCCER Welding Certification (Structural or Industrial)
  • Valid process certifications for SMAW, FCAW, and/or GMAW
  • MSHA Part 46 or Part 48
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction
  • Forklift, aerial lift, or telehandler certification
  • Confined Space Awareness
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and welding best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, and dependable
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license if assigned a company vehicle
Working conditions
  • Flexible work schedule including nights and weekends as required
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, noise, and industrial hazards
Physical requirements
  • Standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and repetitive motion throughout the shift
  • Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally
  • Competitive hourly wage: $22-$37 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
