Job summary

Varstaff Staffing seeks a Structural Technician to oversee complex structural assembly tasks for aerospace vehicles, reading blueprints and aligning parts using jigs and templates, and installing specialized fasteners with precision. You will mentor technicians, perform quality inspections, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Required 8–15+ years of experience, a High School Diploma or GED (associates preferred), and an active U.S. Secret clearance.

Job description

Varstaff is looking for a Structural Technicians.

About the Job: In this role, you will oversee and execute complex, critical structural assembly operations for major structures and minor part-fitting tasks (e.g., filing, sawing, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, reaming, and countersinking). Working from structural blueprints and technical schematics, you will align parts on jigs and aerospace vehicles using templates, measure components with precision tools, install specialized fasteners, and incorporate engineering changes. Serving as a senior technical leader, you will mentor technicians, conduct quality inspections, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and liaise directly between the production floor and engineering management.

Location: MAF / Nexus (SNC - Ohio Operations)

What We’re Looking For Education & Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 8–15+ years of relevant structural assembly/mechanic experience (Associate's degree in aerospace manufacturing preferred).

Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance required.

Mastery in structural blueprint reading, technical schematics, diagrams, and publications.

Advanced experience with structural assembly, minor part-fitting techniques, airframe corrosion removal, repair, and refinishing.

Must possess personal mechanics tools in good working order.

Must-Have Skills

Precision Structural Assembly: Expertise in layout, precision drilling, reaming, countersinking, edge-distance/pitch maintenance, and aligning parts on jigs or vehicle structures using templates and fixtures.

Fastener Installation: Advanced proficiency installing a wide variety of aerospace fasteners, including solid rivets and Hi-Loks.

Precision Inspection & Tools: Skill in using calibrated tools, micrometers, and calipers to verify precise structural dimensions and update operations databases.

Leadership & Process Improvement: Proven capability to oversee large-scale assembly projects, mentor junior technicians, conduct advanced quality checks, and support cross-functional continuous improvement.

Physical & Safety Stamina: Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs., work in loud/outdoor environments, maintain high manual dexterity, and perform safety-sensitive operations.

Nice-to-Have Skills (Preferred)

Associate’s degree in Aerospace Manufacturing or related technical field.

Advanced certifications in aerospace manufacturing.

Prior experience in Aerospace & Defense, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), or U.S. Military aviation assembly.
