Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Structural Team Lead to help lead their housing team. This position combines hands‑on structural engineering, project and client management, staff development, and oversight of multiple concurrent projects.
- Lead structural engineering projects across multifamily, mixed‑use, hospitality, senior living, student housing, and other residential developments.
- Manage projects from early design and structural system selection through construction administration.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for architects, developers, contractors, owners, and internal project teams.
- Oversee project scope, fees, schedules, staffing, budgets, and overall delivery.
- Lead, mentor, and support the development of structural engineers and designers.
- Coordinate team workloads and ensure projects are appropriately staffed.
- Provide senior technical guidance across wood, steel, concrete, masonry, precast, post‑tensioned concrete, and light‑gauge framing systems.
- Review calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents for accuracy and quality.
- Collaborate with project partners to develop practical, efficient, and cost‑effective structural solutions.
- Support proposals, fee development, workload forecasting, client relationships, and the continued growth of the housing practice.
- Ensure projects meet client expectations, internal quality standards, and applicable building codes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 8+ years of structural engineering experience, ideally including multifamily, mixed‑use, hospitality, senior living, or other housing projects.
- Professional Engineer licence required, or the ability to obtain one in Minnesota.
- Previous experience leading project teams and mentoring engineers or designers.
- Strong understanding of common housing construction systems, particularly wood framing, concrete, steel, masonry, precast, and light‑gauge framing.
- Experience managing project scope, fees, schedules, staffing, and client expectations.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as RAM, RISA, ETABS, Revit, or similar programs.
- Strong communication, leadership, and client relationship skills.
- Ability to balance technical engineering responsibilities with team and project leadership.
- Commercial awareness and an interest in supporting client development and practice growth.
