Job summary

Peterson Beckner Industries, Inc. in Haskell, TX is seeking a Surveyor to provide accurate field surveying, layout, and QA support for structural steel erection.

You will establish control lines, column locations, elevations, and as-built conditions, working closely with the Survey Manager. The role requires 3+ years of structural steel surveying, AutoCAD, and familiarity with total stations (Trimble/Leica).

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in structural steel erection preferred.
• AutoCAD experience required.
• Working knowledge of AISC requirements for building orientation, alignment, and structural steel installation.
• Experience using data collectors and robotic total stations (Trimble/Leica).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural and shop drawings, specifications, procedures, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate surveying equipment to accurately collect, verify, and document field data.
• Establish and verify building control lines, column locations, anchor rod locations, and elevations.
• Provide layout and alignment support for structural steel installation, including center points, bolts, and anchor rods.
• Perform anchor rod location, projection, and plumbness surveys.
• Conduct quality-control surveys to verify building plumbness, alignment, and squareness.
• Prepare and provide as-built drawings and survey documentation as required.
• Coordinate surveying activities with the Superintendent to support the construction schedule.
• Work with project teams to identify and troubleshoot layout, alignment, and installation issues.
• Coordinate with other trades when their work may affect structural steel placement and accuracy.
