Job summary

Kinsley Steel, Inc. is seeking a Lead Field Surveyor to join our onsite team, ensuring precision in structural steel projects from start to finish.

You will collect data, verify elevations, and support coordination with crane crews and other trades to ensure accurate installation. Responsibilities include operating surveying equipment (total stations, CAD tools, Bluebeam), traveling to field sites, promoting safety, and delivering as-built drawings when needed.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in Structural Steel Erection preferred.
• Experience in surveying slopes/grades/wall lines for miscellaneous metals.
• Knowledge of using total station or similar surveying equipment.
• Availability for travel to field sites.
• Able to work at heights in an aerial lift or on elevated steel floors, emphasizing safety.
• Thorough understanding of AISC requirements for building orientation and alignment.
• Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data collection and building control lines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with team members onsite.

Responsibilities

• Utilize surveying equipment to collect and present accurate data for practical field use.
• Promote a strong safety culture on site.
• Travel to job sites for data collection.
• Verify elevations and alignments of embeds; provide as-built drawings.
• Utilize software applications such as Trimble, Bluebeam, CAD, and MS Office.
• Deliver information for column/steel installation alignment; create anchor rod surveys.
• Coordinate crane beam install and steel that correlates with other trades.
• Assist with miscellaneous steel placement and coordination with trades.
